This Chanel white boucle wool dress was designed for the pre 2017 spring collection by Karl Lagerfeld. The jacket was also chosen by the actress Keira Knightley, a long-time Chanel muse, for the 2017 Coco Rush Bridal collection ad campaign. It is crafted from fantasy tweed, a type of boucle wool cloth which is a signature of the venerated fashion house. This white wool is adorned with white loop stitch and textured white mesh, anchored by white stitches in organic forms. The neckline is curved and collarless, the width of it revealing the collarbones and adding an easy gracefulness. There are two buttons at the neck which are coral-pink and finished with a multicoloured, metallic lion head - another emblem of the house as Coco, a Leo star sign, was fascinated by astrology and believed in the influence of the zodiac. It has short, wide sleeves which are also each adorned with one of these playful buttons. The dress has a cocooning, shift silhouette and under the arms are cut-outs. It has two patch pockets at the front, each crowned with a coordinating button. The dress is lined with white silk woven with camellias, the house logo, the location of Chanel’s first store on “rue Cambon”, and the brand name. This cloth is sheer and sits atop a second white silk lining. The dress fastens at the back of the neck with a tonal zip and hook-and-eye clasp.
