This spotlight-stealing dress was designed as part of Lanvin’s Fall 2015 collection and was worn by Reese Witherspoon to the Critics’ Choice Awards in January 2015. Designed during Alber Elbaz’s lauded reign as Creative Director of Lanvin, Vogue said of the collection, “Elbaz painted a convincing portrait of a sophisticated adventuress, whose clothes were souvenirs of a life lived to the fullest.” This decadent gown is tailored to a strapless cut, the bust is hugged tight by a corset resplendent in fuchsia satin. The label’s exemplary tailoring shines here, the bust is lined in nude hued silk and boned the entire way around. From the bust down, the dress is tailored from thick black crepe which really makes the hot pink cloth stand out against it. It has a bias cut that skims the hips and flares out at the floor. The stand-out detail is the sculptural tailoring in fuchsia satin that adorns the rear. Cerebrally draped, it twists down the back and sweeps the floor, forming a train behind the wearer. This gown fastens at the rear with a large brass zip, hidden behind the back embellishment. The skirt is unlined. The original dark grey label is embroidered with “Lanvin Hiver 2015”.
